Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken on a wedding celebration in Slovakia. Everyone was concentrated on the new couple, too busy posing for some pictures they'll never look at again and missed their beautiful surrounding. Sometimes you have to step back and look at things others don't notice.

Time

It was a rainy afternoon. I love the smell of the plants and air after the rain, so I took my camera and went out, wandering through the restaurant's garden. I'm a city kid, so I very much enjoyed the silence and this specific calm feeling only the rain can give you.

Lighting

Just natural light.

Equipment

I took that photo with my iPhone 5.

Inspiration

For somebody like me, who have been living his/her whole life in cities, nature is truly the biggest inspiration.

Editing

As one can see, I did a lot of post-processing. It is always fun to watch a simple picture turn into something completely different, something you've imagined.

In my camera bag

I have a Nikon D3100 but I also take a lot of pictures (like this one) with my iPhone camera. Of course equipment is important but the most important thing in photography is a trained eye and thinking out of the box. One can have the best camera (if there is such a thing) in the world but if he or she doesn't know what motive they should take and what story they want to tell, then what difference will there be between this and the other guy, who has the same camera.

Feedback

I'm pretty new to photography so I don't really have lots of advices. The only one I have is try, try, try. You'll never know how something turns out unless you've tried it. Especially in photography there is only that much you can learn from others. Unless you want to copy others for you whole life, you've got to find your own way. It's said that pictures reflect a part of the author, so get your camera and share with the world what is deep inside you, something you can't even express with words. :)
