Behind The Lens

Location

This is a photo taken of my daughter on the Rosebud Foreshore, my daughter was a yellow belt in Karate at the time. She has now gone on to obtain her black belt 1st dan.

Time

This was the golden hour as the sun was setting in the winter months.

Lighting

Purposely shot with the sun in the background to get the glistening on the water to use as a background for the subject.

Equipment

I used a Canon 7D, with a Tamron 18-270 lens.

Inspiration

It was taken partly by chance, as she was practicing her balance and kata moves. I took photos using her as the subject so she could see her stance later. Right place, right time.

Editing

Simply reverted to a black and white photo.

In my camera bag

I carry two cameras in my LowePro bags. First being the Canon 7D, the second being a Canon 1D. I also carry my few favourite lenses being the Sigma 24-70 2.8, the Sigma 150-500 and the Tamron 18-270.

Feedback

Always carry a camera, you never know when the perfect shot will arise. Use what nature provides you, as an 'old school' film photographer, I love the golden hours of morning and afternoon, it can add so much more emotion and life to a photograph.
