Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was shot in my sister's wardrobe!

Time

It was around midday. My cat had just been busking in the sun and she all of a sudden she went straight to her litter of kittens and took one of them in her mouth and jumped into my wardrobe. She did that 5 times. When she was finally done she lay there looking at them purring away and that's when i came to my senses and took the shot. It was just too amazing that she just jumped about 2 scaffolds up to make sure her kittens were safe. It was one of those things you never get to see at all but am glad that I was there to witness it.

Lighting

It was a sunny day and I took advantage of the light coming from the window on the left side of the wardrobe.

Equipment

The camera i used was a Sony Nex 3 with an 18-50 f3.5 kit lens. No flash used. Just natural light.

Inspiration

Just the shear motherly love my cat showed. It was more than enough inspiration to take the photo.

Editing

I took three photos. Each with an 1+ increments I'm exposure and using photoshop put them together so as to have a HDR effect.

In my camera bag

Must have in my bag: Lens cleaner! Very important Canon 50mm f1.8 Sigma 18-35 f1.8 Sigma 17-50 f2.8 Canon 24-70 f4.0 Tamrom 10-24 f3.5 Camera body: Canon 6D

Feedback

My advice on Animal photography is patience. Just we ready to take the photo when it's the right moment. I usually shot in continuous shutter mode to ensure that i capture the precise moment that i need.
