This photo was taken at a seaside holiday destination not too far from Kolkata,West Bengal, India. I was on a family vacation .Time
I had wandered out alone from the hotel room in the morning to the beach to see if I can get a good street photograph with my new setup . This happens to be one of my first street photographs when I started shooting in 2014. This was shot around 8 am.Lighting
Nothing special. Just normal warm morning sunlight from above the sea.Equipment
A Canon 5D Mark II and Carl Zeiss Flektogon 35mm prime lens attached with adapter. One thing I would like to mention is this image was shot at f/2 as my aperture control on this manual lens was stuck and won't move.Inspiration
This is a perfect example of success comes at the edge of failure and this has happened many times when I was frustrated at not having a good shot on my outing. As I was walking back to our hotel room I noticed two guys looking quite similar and wearing the same trunks and vests walk past me from the ocean and I noticed a lamppost-pillar in front of me . This idea struck me - if I can get a story of half man on this side and half on the other and I jumped to get a good frame as they passed by and miraculously their hands and legs were very much in sync to give me the shot I had visualized.Editing

Be open when you go out to shoot. Leave your worries at home. Go out like a child exploring the place. Observe. Read the street in front of you, meaning tell yourself in words what is happening in front of your eyes. This is a good way to start observing. And above all don't shoot like a machine gun hoping something will accidentally fall in place. the chance of that is .00001%. Visualize what you want first, but even before that wish for something. Only then you will find yourself going towards the image you want and getting the point of view and field of view and timing right. Also chase the light, keep it behind your back. No light , no photography !
