Location
This photo was taken in Musqueam, BC (Vancouver) in my garden after the rain in late spring. The usual Vancouver weather that time of year in our beautiful city.Time
It was just before noon when I took this shot. I waited for the sun so that I could get some light reflection from the droplets on the lilies but no sun. The photo ended up looking better without the sunlight's reflection. It was cloudy with sunny periods outside. But I loved the way the raindrops looked on this lily so I snapped a few shots of these calla lilies and loved what I saw through the view finder and camera screen.Lighting
I used no flash. I used the natural lighting from outside of my home in Vancouver, BC.Equipment
I used a Fuji FinePix S700. I used no tripod. I stood directly over the flowers. This camera has an excellent macro and super macro setting. I used the macro setting for this shot with no flash.Inspiration
I love gardening next to photography. Photography is my first love! Gardening I've loved all my life. I loved the way these two lilies looked with the rain droplets covering them.I took a few shots and found this photo to be the one I liked best.Editing
There was no post-processing. This was taken in natural light outside. In my camera bag
Tripod, extra camera, batteries, flash, extra memory card...for the "just in case" situations came up. I'm sure some of us have had something go missing or wrong and we need an extra batteries, memory cards, and camera. Don't forget a little foldable stool for shots closer to the ground level or for a different look shoot from the bottom up.Feedback
First of all love the subjects that you're trying to capture. Play with different settings on your cameras! Learn what your camera can do for you. For shots like this, try shooting from different positions: above, from the side, landscape, portrait. Have fun in the garden with your camera. Remember for those extra close-ups use macro to catch the fine details of your subject.
