San Felipe de Neri Church, named for King Phillip of Spain, dates back to the year 1706, when the City of Albuquerque was founded.

The original building opened in 1719. It collapsed in 1792 following heavy rains and was replaced by the current ediface a year later. The walls of the church are built of adobe and five feet thick.
