Location
Photo was Taken at the Geraldton foreshore Western AustraliaTime
We were walking along the foreshore at 5:00pm, during a winter evening. there was a slight westerly breeze. As the sun disappeared behind the Geraldton Port buildings, the sky erupted in a beautiful red hue and contrasting cloud formation.Lighting
The Lighting during a sunset changes rapidly, I managed to get the right timing of the clouds coming in from the west, the sun reflection was bouncing off the water to the low incoming clouds.Equipment
At the time from memory think I was using a Fuji Finepix EXR HS20 Fixed zoom lens 16mp. This is a great camera for point and shoot to get a good image, the photo was a hand held shot .Inspiration
My wife and I used to walk along the foreshore quite a bit, I always took my fujifilm camera for ease of use. I have always enjoyed a good sunset and find them very relaxing, also allowing me to reflect back on the day that was.Editing
The photo is unedited straight from the camera shot settings were wide angle set on auto.In my camera bag
I carry in my bag, filters , Highspeed lightning trigger made by Pluto, cable release, Canon Kiss X5 18-55mm & 75-300mm lenses Canon 5d Mk II with standard 24-105 lens, and a Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens to suit both Canon cameras . My old trustworthy Fuji Finepix EXR HS20 always lives in the car. I carry spare batteries for all cameras and 12volt chargers. Manfroto tripod, Macro Extension tubes for the canon camerasFeedback
Sunset lighting is constantly changing, getting out of the suburbs to either the beach or a country setting would be my preference. You can also get good sunset images in the city near bridges and tall building where the setting sun light plays off the buildings
