Location
Actually, it's right in the garden of my parents. Sometimes, the best shots are not far away.Time
It was early in the morning. There's just one "problem" shooting during the sunrise in spring: The longer you wait, the earlier the alarm clock rings. The days become longer and you have to get up early ;)Lighting
I love to shoot during the sunrise, the light is warm and soft and the dewdrops give me a great bokeh effect. In this light I only use my camera and sometimes a reflector to lighten up the shadows a little bit. I tried to get the sun right behind the flower to create this bokeh with the dewdrops covering the grass in the background. Thats it, nothing more - just natural light and my Nikon. That's about photographing the beautiful moments the nature shares with us and setting the scene effectively with a creative interplay between light, space and color is my way to show my respect for that and how I appreciate life and the moments we are allowed to see.Equipment
Nikon D800e, 105mm 2.8 macro, but important is what you have in mind and how you can realize it. The technology is interchangeable.Inspiration
I had the idea of this pic a long time and I found the right lighting conditions at this particular morning when I went out with my dog and so I decided to take this opportunity. I went back for my camera and got rewarded.Editing
On this case, not much, just a few color corrections and the standard raw development, no retouching. In my camera bag
The technology is interchangeable. The photographer takes the pictures. It does not matter if you use a small camera or a big body, you have to feel comfortable with your equipment and be aware that the picture has just to be transformed from your idea to the final photo. Thats the whole process and what makes it really interesting.Feedback
get up during the blue hour and look for the right motif. Set up your equipment and your perspective, and when the sun rises, use the time window to make your shots from different perspectives and play around with the aperture to get the bokeh you want. And the most important: have fun! Don't get frustrated, if it doesn't turn out how you wanted but try again until you got what you wanted, that's the way to improve your skills and building your own style. kind regards, Marco Gressler
