Behind The Lens

Location

Heyfield was a base for week long photography project, this image was taken on the property I was staying.

Time

Was walking through a paddock past a water dam, checking out for potential images. This was taken on 15th April 2015, 12.05pm.

Lighting

An overcast day with dark clouds, though patches of blue sky could be seen.

Equipment

Canon 350D with a 28-105mm f/3.5 was only equipment used

Inspiration

Sometimes I have an image in mind before going out, but on this occasion it was a blank slate - seeing what caught my eye. Initially it was the reeds that caught my attention - then the texture of the water, the light & cloud formation added an intriguing perspective.

Editing

Post processing was basically increasing the contrast & mid-tones. Flipped image so clouds would be at the top, where we traditionally expect to see them.

In my camera bag

At the time the Canon 350D would have the 28-105 as my go to lens. 50mm/28mm & 100-300mm lens (Recently have updated to a Canon 5DIV with 24-70 f2.8 along with a 50mm, 100mm f2.8 (macro))

Feedback

Simplicity in the elements, trying to keep the image uncluttered.
