Location
I took this photo at the Amory Lock & Dam in MsTime
It was taken at sunset. Probably around 8pm.Lighting
The lighting from the sunset was warm and soft. A storm had come thru and i always love to shoot sunsets after storms.Equipment
I used a Nikon D300 with Nikon 50-70mm lens. Not which tripod i used. No flash used.Inspiration
I love sunset and silhouettes. At first i was just taking sunset photos when the fishermen came in to load their boat. I saw it as a perfect opportunity to not only get a silhouette but also have the perfect subject for a sunset over the river.Editing
Yes. I alsways post process. I used OnOne software. I normally only want to do just enough to enhance the colors so that the photo looks like what i saw in person and maybe a touch better. I dont like making them Look enhanced even tho they are.In my camera bag
Nikon D7000, Nikon several nikon lens ranging from 60mm macro to 70-200 Tamron. Flash, D70 Nikon with IR filter for IR photography.Feedback
Best advice i can give is be on the scene about an hour before sunset and stay untill dark. There is a time called the Twilight where the sky changes from orange to a nlue hue. Also, always look for a subject to enhance the sunset. Silouettes can be anything, boats, fisherman, a tree, even a dragon fly. I once photographed a spider with the sunset in the background. I usually under expose 1-2 stops having taking meter readings at the bright areas of the sky to darken the darker areas.
