Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in a Sikh Temple during the wedding ceremony. A Caucasian Bride and Indian Groom made a unique and beautiful couple

Time

You can't tell what time of the day this photo was taken because the ceremony took a place inside this beautiful temple but it was just before a sunset.

Lighting

The inside of the temple was very bright, a lot of natural lighting coming from big windows along the walls made it very enjoyable to photograph

Equipment

Canon 6d, Canon L24-105mm f.4, Canon speedlight 600exd

Inspiration

From the first moment I saw the inside of this temple and a happy couple getting ready for the ceremony I noticed how clean and shiny the floors were. This was one of these temples that everybody walks barefoot. I immediately had an idea of a picture in my mind, I wanted to capture a reflection of a couple with all the colors and beautiful windows in a background.

Editing

I usually do a little bit of post processing, depending on the image - clearing up unnecessary objects or skin, adjusting a visual quality etc. This particular image was a little different. I pretty much liked the way it looked straight from the camera and besides a tiny cropping adjustment there is not much processing being done on this image.

In my camera bag

First thing I pack with me when I go out shooting is my Canon 135mmL 2.0 prime lens. I just can't get enough of it! I also like to have a 15mm fish eye in case of an opportunity to take a cool unique shot, and my 24-105L f.4 for all sorts of generic wider angle photos. Depending on the situation I may take my 50mm and 70-200 lenses as well but I like keeping my equipment light and sufficient for my needs. One or two 600ex flashes and a transmitter is a must too, just in case.

Feedback

It's better to spend a little bit of time looking around, planing a shot and preparing if necessary, then snap hundreds of pictures hoping that one of them will turn out awesome. It saves tons of time and makes you feel in control of your own work.
