Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was actually taken at home, and my wife wasn't posing for the shot was a natural pose. If I remember rightly she was very tired after a full on day with my 18 month old little boy.

Time

This shot was taken in the early evening just after she put our son to bed at around 6pm, she sat down and I just happened to have my alpha in my hand loaded and ready.

Lighting

This was taken in natural lighting under fluorescent bulbs.

Equipment

Shot taken on my Sony alpha slt-a65v and a 55-200mm lens, no flash, no tripod.

Inspiration

The natural pose she was in, and she's beautiful why wouldn't you capture her!

Editing

Photo was literally slightly edited in photoshop I added a brush effect to create the red smoke, to make it look like someone who has had enough of the world and inhaling her worries away.

In my camera bag

Sony SLT-A65V, SAL1680Z Carl Zeiss lens, SAL55200 lens, Pro-hoya and Tiffen filters. Remote control shutter, lens cleaning equipment, Sony DSC-HX20 compact camera, 4 batteries.

Feedback

My advice is to go with your gut instincts, don't be afraid to be creative, let your emotions and your vision come into the photographs. I quite like dark photography, not afraid to show the other side of human behaviour. I sometimes find less is more in photos, sometimes the simple shots are the best.
