Day 130 of 365 Challenge (May 10, 2015) - Seeing as it was Mothers Day, (Happy Mothers Day to everyone who is a mum) I went for a walk in Edwards Gardens. My mum loved flowers and her favourite was the Trillium. As I was getting ready to leave, I decided to take a small detour and I spotted some Trilliums. I have never seen Trilliums at Edwards Gardens before. Hmmmm. I was going to crop the photo to bring the flower up closer but decided against it as it would cut off the leaves which is important to this particular wildflower.
The white Trillium was made the provincial flower of Ontario in 1937. The adoption of an official flower for Ontario grew out of a movement during the First World War to choose a national floral emblem appropriate for planting on the graves of Canadian servicemen overseas.

What a lovely tribute and flower. I agree the leaves are lovely too but if this had been mine, I think I'd have cropped the right side at about the level of the white petal and just a smidgen off the bottom. That way the subject is in the lower third overlap AND you still have your leaf. Just my humble opinion of course, we all like different things. :)
