This photo was taken outside of the home I was renting in Cameron NC, along the side yard area.Time
This is one of my favorite shoots of this darling natural. It was actually shot around 10 in the morning or so. We were trying to get some shots done up for her mom & her for her pagent etc.Lighting
The light was streaming through the trees off to the left from my neighbors yard. It actually used to get some amazing light during that time of the day and as the sun rose. I figured that out a little too late, as we moved a few months after. There are some hotspots on her face, but not to the point where they are distracting. It has a nice bright airy feelEquipment
Canon 50d & an 85mm (one of my fav go to lenses)Inspiration
I had recently seen similar shots taken like this, and well Bella is a little natural and wanted to test it out with her. To this day it is still one of my shots. The innocence of it. Something there calls to me.Editing
Yes. I sharpened it a bit. As well as used curves. I try not to do a whole lot. I'm still learning my way around photo shop. That and I am not a fan of over processed looks. In my camera bag
I normally carry in my bag, the 85 (which hardly leaves my camera), the nifty fifty & the 70-200 along with some hoods. I have a couple of gray cards and a filter for haze.Feedback
Watch where the light falls on your subject. Look for any hot spots and move your subject until you find just enough has gone. As well as having them lightly rest their hands/head/body against the an object. This way, you're not getting a ton of shadow and a completely smooshed looking subject. If you need to filter the light you can use your reflector, or even to bounce more into your subject.
