This is really lovely, the composition, and solitude of the child, and story behind the image, brilliant shot.

Location
The photo was taken in Paraty, Brazil. The cobbled streets have been around since the 16th century and captured my attention right away.Time
I believe it was taken in the late afternoon. We had been walking around looking at the town and shops. We had just eaten dinner and I snapped this after we left the restaurant.Lighting
The lighting was perfect. Dusk was starting to give off the coloring. Everything just worked.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS REBEL T5i and Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
When I saw the child playing in the water it reminded me of simple times. He was having fun playing in the water. He wasn't worried about anything. The reflection from the water and the cobbled were similar in tone but his shirt popped and made it all come together.Editing
I don't believe in post processing. I try and take the photos correct the first time. It is extremely challenging, but sometimes you only get one attempt to capture the moment. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon 24mm to 105mm lens. This thing captures almost anything at any time. I don't leave home without it.Feedback
Being at the right place at the right time is a good start. I think you can recreate this almost anywhere in the world. I try to capture life in the moment without setting things up. If it's perfect I capture it.
