This was taken at my friends house while I was visiting. Oliver is he sweetest dog.Time
It was taken around lunchtime and this guy just wanted some attention.Lighting
I used the natural light coming in from outside. I felt like it really highlighted his personality and his mood.Equipment
This was shot on my Galaxy Note 3 smartphone. I didn't have my DSLR with me but I couldn't pass up this opportunity.Inspiration
I was in the right place at the right time and my muse was absolutely breathtaking. I couldn't have planned it to be any better. Everything was just perfect.Editing
I used a filter to put an accent on the darker colors. It really made everything pop. I try to capture images the way they are. Sometimes filters or photoshopped tricks dilute the magic in the photograph. This time it added to the beauty. In my camera bag
I carry a Canon EOS T5i with a 50mm f/1.8 STM lense. I also have the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II and EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III lenses. Although I am currently looking to expand my lens collection.Feedback
Honestly the hardest part about taking animal pictures is the animal being willing to sit still long enough to capture them in the moment. Oliver is very well behaved and surprisingly patient. If you are working with animals that tend to be more of a hassle you can motivate them with treats or activities that get their attention. Distracting noises will always get them to look but you have to be very fast. Also the average attention span of a dog is around 15 minutes. Keep that in mind when you are taking pictures and if they are getting too antsy it is best to wait until another time.
