Location
This picture was taken in a rural Houston, Texas location. Houston has a lot of beautiful scenery. One of my favorite things to do is to drive around looking for new areas to shoot at.Time
This image was taken at a quarter before sunset.Lighting
My lighting for this image was horrible and way to dark. I try to stay away from High ISO and usually set it at 100. I ended up lowering my shutter speed to 160, set my aperture to 1.8f, and was able to still use a somewhat low ISO at 200. We were under the darkest cloud in the sky and 15min after the session started it began to rain.Equipment
I used a Nikon D800 and a 85mm 1.4f lens.Inspiration
My inspiration was based on Mother's day. I wanted to create a memory that this mother would cherish for many years to come.Editing
Yes, since the image was really dark, I did a couple of RAW adjustments to expose it properly. I used Photoshop CS6 to get rid of distractions. I also used selective color adjustment to brighten up her skin tone and I added a light haze.In my camera bag
I carry a Nikon D800, 85mm 1.4f lens, 35mm 1.4f lens, extra battery, SB 900 speed light, lens cleaner, AA batteries, and stick a reflector to the front of my bag.Feedback
My advice to people is to shoot in RAW mode as often as possible. I never knew how amazing it can be until I recently tried it. Ever since then I can say that even a bad image can be turned into something amazing. It has saved me a lot of time when it comes to post-processing my images.
