Location
This is Wahkeena Falls at Columbia River Gorge near Portland, Oregon.Time
It was 10:30 in the morning.Lighting
Although there was plenty of natural light outside the woods because of the time of the day, this fall is inside the green and shady forests of the Pacific Northwest, so there was not enough light near the waterfall. That made me use a long exposure and achieve the effect of the water. It also made the greens to really stand out.Equipment
Canon EOS 60D, EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS. I didn´t have my tripod with me so I had to use the bridge fence that was just next to the waterfall. No flash, filters nor other equipment.Inspiration
There was a little boy trying to climb to the huge log. It doesn't look that big in the picture because of the lack of scale. He made me pay attention to the dead and moss covered tree. I thought it could be an interesting feature for the picture.Editing
No.In my camera bag
Canon EOS 60D, the kit lens EF-S18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II, Canon EF 70-300MM F/4-5.6 IS USM and Tokina 11 - 16 mm f/2.8 AT-X PRO DX2.Feedback
Don´t forget your tripod, but if you do, look for elements you can find around you to steady the camera. Also use low shutter speed to achieve the water effect. Light is important as if there is too much light it will be more difficult to achieve the water effect without any filters.
