This photo was taken in the corner of my friend's bedroom.Time
My friend is a mother, so the only time her husband could take over babysitting duties was at night. That meant we couldn't utilize any natural light which was familiar to me.Lighting
I used her Cowboy Studio continuous light setup with umbrellas. I don't even think I had a reflector to use! The lights were very dim, needed to be plugged in, and the light stands didn't extend very high, so there were many obstacles.Equipment
During the shoot I had a Canon 5DMarkII with a variety of lenses, but this particular shot was taken with a 50mmF1.2L. It's my favorite for boudoir.Inspiration
She has great legs that looked cool against the black backdrop, so we rolled with it. There was a lot of experimenting and it was fun!Editing
Using Photoshop, the original need some clean up on the black background. When the photo was taken I knew I wanted it to be in black and white, so I did a conversion and tweaked it until I saw my vision. In my camera bag
Normally I carry a Canon 70D, 24-70F2.8L lens, 430EXII flash, and a set of pocket wizards.Feedback
Look for opportunity. The light stands we had were short, so to light her better she needed to be on the ground. Her legs are amazing, so I made that the subject. The rest was experimentation to see what worked best.
