If I could stop one heart from breaking... This photograph was inspired by a line in a poem called Not in Vain by Emily Dickinson. This is my visual representation of stopping a heart from breaking. There's a broken heart on the ground and a perfectly intact one in the hands.

Location
Living in Wyoming, you only have about 4 months of comfortable temperatures to shoot outdoors. Being in one of the other 8 months, this photo was taken at my college's studio.Time
I believe this was taken in the afternoon.Lighting
This was shot using ambient lighting and a little continuous light the college had available. Nothing exciting!Equipment
This was shot using a Canon AE-1, 50mm prime lens, and a roll of seamless grey paper.Inspiration
It was a school assignment to create a photograph based off a poem. My poem was Not in Vain by Emily Dickinson.Editing
Yes! Being a film photography major, I developed my film and carefully printed probably ten different versions of this negative until I found my favorite exposure. In my camera bag
Nowadays I shoot a Canon 70D with a 24-70L F2.8 lens. My Canon 430EXII Speedlite with pocketwizards are my best friends though!Feedback
I used up an entire 36 exposure roll of film trying to nail this shot. It was key for me to use continuous light with the ambient light, so I could better guess what my shot would look like. Most of all, just experiment and draw inspiration from everything.
