Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Time

About 4 PM

Lighting

Fog and moonlight.

Equipment

Canon T3i, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens. No tripod or flash.

Inspiration

There was fog everywhere and I was watching how the light was coming through the fog and this tree. Then I noticed the moon and I had a feeling that I was in the right place at the right time so just started to shoot.

Editing

Photoshop CC 2014, Light Room 5, Perfect Photo Suite 8. From original raw image I used noise reduction, adjusted lighting and a small amount of color saturation, lens calibration.

In my camera bag

Canon T3i, Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens.

Feedback

I always try to take pictures from as many different angles as possible. In this case, I realized that I was much too close to the image with my lens at a minimum of 100 mm., so I had to keep moving back. Once I was in proper position I took as many shots as I could from as many angles ans settings as possible. Many times I have found that the angle and settings I didn't think would work, did. Move out of safe territory and experiment. You never know what you're going to get.
