I found 2 places in the Vancouver area during the Spring where hummingbirds were consistently coming and going. Usually, they will hover around the feeder, but occasionally another bird will come around and they will confront each other. That's what I was hoping would happen because all of the colorful bottom feathers come out.Editing

In this case I think camera settings are very important because the subject is moving so quickly. It also helps to have a very fast lens. A tripod is essential and the ideal distance is about 10 feet. F5.6, Shutter Speed 1/2000, ISO depends on light available. I like to use a 1/2000 shutter speed, because that gives me some motion in the wings. A 1/4000 shutter speed pretty much freezes every part of the bird.
