Location
this shot was taken at the west midlands safari park, uk and the first use of my sigma 70-300mm lense. was pleasantly surprised with the natural look in such a man made environment. Completely self taught photographer so its these rewards that boost your confidence.Time
lunch time on a beautiful summers day, driving throught the large cat enclosure, i cautiously (lions afterall) crank the window down just enough to post my lense through and rest it on the edge of the glassLighting
as it was of lions i wanted as much natural light as possible to reflect the sunny and hot environments of the lions natural homeEquipment
Taken on my Canon 1100D, my first and only DSLR with a sigma 70-300mm lense no flash involved as it was a glorious summers day with the sun high in sky.Inspiration
I wanted to try and capture the lazy, content and happy composure of the lions and i think this shot caught it perfectly. the lioness basking in the sun, its only effort is to squint its eyes in the bright sun.Editing
Ive used photoshop for many years but mainly for graphic design so my experience in enhancing actual photos is limited. The only process i did with this one is alter the levels to help balance the tones. In my camera bag
my quick up and go bag always has my canon 11000d with its standard efs 18-55mm lense and my sigma 70-300mm lense. i like to keep a couple of ND filters in as you never know when they can come in handy!Feedback
i think anyone will agree when it comes to animals be patient!
