Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the garden of our home in Sussex. The collies, Ben and Flash were fixated by my husband who was holding a sausage.

Time

It was taken early to late morning. The light was casting shadows across the garden. I didn't use a flash.

Lighting

It wasn't a planned photo so I did not give a huge amount of consideration to lighting. I was aware, though, that the light wasn't too harsh. Given that, I still felt that the photo was more appealing in the black and white format.

Equipment

I used my full frame Nikon DF without a tripod.

Inspiration

Their expressions. I was lucky that I had the camera to hand. It wasn't staged.

Editing

I always use Lightroom or photoshop although with this image I recall merely changing it to black and white.

In my camera bag

I am now changing equipment from my Nikon DF and a range of very expensive 2.8 lenses to mainly using the Leica Q and the Fujifilm x-pro 2 with a number of lenses including the 50-200 with a converter.

Feedback

I suppose it would be also having the camera to hand so as not to miss the opportunity of those spontaneous shots that can work out so successfully. The dogs would have known something was up if I had tried to set this shot up and I don't think it would have come out so naturally.
