Location
Along the shore of a local Northern Wisconsin lake. I was there to explore, and I actually had my eye on some ducks on the water that I was trying to find a better vantage point to get a close-up.Time
I recall it being late afternoon / early evening in the mid-summer.Lighting
Just at the right place at the right time.Equipment
Canon EOS Rebel T3i, f/7.1, 1/400sec, ISO 640, 300 mmInspiration
I always love shooting wildlife. While trying to find a better vantage point to shoot some ducks, this little guy was following and keeping an eye on me. I took a couple of pics of him on this tree, and I think he heard the shutter click, then he turned and looked right at me. I didn't even realize it looked like he was smiling until reviewing the pictures later.Editing
I did a little processing in Lightroom to adjust the lighting/color to try and resemble closer to what I could see with the naked eye.In my camera bag
I try to always keep my camera with the zoom (75-300 mm) lens on it, with me at all times. It actually doesn't leave the truck much in the summer, I don't keep it with as much in the winter because of the frigid temps. In the rest of my bag (which is not always with me) I have a manual wide angle 14 mm lens, the 18-55 mm kit lens, 50 mm, tripod, remote (wireless and wired), flash, extra camera battery, flashlight, a couple of microfiber rags, and extra batteries for my flashlight and flash.Feedback
The best advice I could give is to always keep trying. I would rather just delete all of my shots vs regretting that I didn't try. And believe me, there are plenty that I regret not trying or even not having my camera with. It's doesn't bother me to take a few hundred pictures and only like two of them. Also, always remember to look behind you!
