This photo was taken at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre.Time
It was taken around 13.30 GMT on the 14th March 2015. It is the otters feeding time then. This otter is stood up waiting for the food to be thrown into them. It was taken from behind a high wall and not being that tall myself I could not get a full body shot.Lighting
The lighting was very poor that day. Even so I still shot with a low ISO and on shutter priority.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3200 with a Nikon 55 - 300 mm lens f4.5 -5.6 and a monopod. It was shot with a focal length of 220.0 mm the aperture was f5.3 and a shutter speed of 1/60Inspiration
We had seen the otters being fed in the morning and seeing the looks on there faces I could not resist going back in the afternoon. He was just stood there with that look on his face. Who could resist a look like that.Editing
I did do a little post-processing. I increased the exposure, brightness and saturation a little bit.In my camera bag
The first thing that goes in is my Nikon D3200 body. I also take three lenes with me, a Nikon 18 - 55 mm, 55 -200 mm and 55 - 300 mm . Next to go in will be filters and lens hoods. A Neewer Speedlite flash gun and my Manfrotto monopod. If I am going to do a lot of slow shutter speed photos I will take my tripod as well.Feedback
To capture any shot like this patience is the key word. For one of my otter shots I waited for a hour to get the shot Be prepared to take the shot as it presents itself. Any shots of wildlife or birds I would always shoot with a fast shutter speed. If you are unsure of the settings on your camera use the sports mode.
