This picture is stunning. The trees have caught the light beautifully. The reflection in the water is an awesome capture.

Location
This photo was taken down on the Carson river here in Carson city, NV.Time
I took this photo in early evening, just as the sun was getting ready to set behind the mountains.Lighting
The light is all natural light, I loved the way the sunlight lit up the trees along the river.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS XSi with a 17-35mm lens and a gorilla grip tripod to capture this image. I used the tripod to grip the rail on the bridge that crosses the Carson river. I shoot in manual mode so I set my settings to F 8.0, ISO200, exposure 1/125.Inspiration
I drive home from work and pass this spot on the way, several times I have thought about stopping to capture this image. On this particular day I couldn't pass up the light and clouds that captured my eye. So I turned off the road and walked out onto the bridge to find the spot that fit the image in my mind and the end result is what you see.Editing
I try and capture everything in camera so that I only have to do minimal postprocessing. I use Adobe Lightroom to do my initial edits, then I import the image into Adobe Photoshop and use a Topaz Labs program to finish the image to bring the colors and vibrance to as close to what I saw with my naked eye.In my camera bag
I usually carry two bags one with my Pentax K20D with two lenses a 28-90mm and a 70-300mm and the other bag usually has my Canon XSi with a 18-55mm lenses.Feedback
Photography is a unique art form, unlike traditional art forms we as photographers do not use paints or pencils to create our art work. We use light its self with all of its brilliant colors and tonalities. So my advice to anyone wanting to capture and image like this is to learn to see light. It sounds simple but it is not as simple as it sounds. We have to learn to recognize the value of light and its relationship with the objects in which it is shining on. We need to also learn to recognize the values of the shadow s or shaded areas in which the light has been transformed into shades of gray. All light has a color to it so we must also be able to learn how to manipulate our camera to see that color in its true form. So with recognizing light we also need to have a mindful eye to our surrounding. Learn to recognize a locations beauty long before you find the perfect time to shoot it. Lastly we need to be ready to react when all the puzzle pieces come together at just the right time. So get outdoors and find that next great shot, happy hunting!
