Nice cloud pattern, cool composition, good soft colours and great faded look towards the sun. Really nice job Alexander!!!

The photo was taken at Pebble Beach, California, when I was driving along the old pacific scenic route 1.Time
I just got off the plane from London and was trying to catch the sunset along the route 1, so arrived to Pebble Beach just in time for the last minutes of that excellent light over the pacific ocean. It was about 6:20pm.Lighting
That lone cypress looked immaculous in the sunset light so I wanted to both the light on the tree and the path of the sun on the water to be in. Skies were pretty dramatic too, always nice for a picture of this kind.Equipment
This was taken with Canon 6D and Samyang 14mm f/2.8 fully manual lens, with a tripod. No other equipment was needed.Inspiration
It was going to be a lonely trip along the pacific coast, driving alone from San Francisco to LA over night, so I needed a cover picture for the trip and the lone cypress was the perfect one for that. The sunset and dramatic clouds just made up to the idea nicely!Editing
Not much on this picture. I usually do HDR but this one didn't need any. Just regular fine tuning in Lightroom was enough here.In my camera bag
On that trip I took two bodies with few lenses: Canon 6D, Canon 650D, EF 70-200/4L, EF 50/1.8, Samyang 14/2.8, Sigma EF-S 24-70/2.8 and my favourity small and light tripod MeFoto, which nicely fits into my travel bag. I don't yet have full set of professional lenses in my bag. For a nice hobby it is quickly becoming quite expensive, so trying to balance the quality with the cost and slowly ramping up the price tag.Feedback
Being in right place at the right time is essential for a sunset picture. I guess I was half lucky on this occasion. There is an app for iPhone that can give you exact lighting conditions on any day and time within the next year or so. So you could plan well ahead and prepare for an exact time when the shadows and the light will be the best for the picture. If only weather was more predictable!
