Location
This photo was taken not far from my home, in a small community called Cloverdale, TN. Not so long ago it was a little country store and grill. They say that they served the best hamburger around! I was told that over the years it made many family's a living, as there were a few different owners. After posting this on Facebook, I heard from many that had spent time there and made lots of memories in this old building. Shortly after taking this photo, it was torn down.Time
This was taken in the middle of the day, with rather overcast skies. The lighting really wasn't ideal. But sometimes you just have to take what you can get.Lighting
I decided to try and get an HDR image with Photomatix, and I liked it better than the original .Equipment
This was a hand held shot, using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II. F-stop 7.1, Exposure at 1/15 sec, ISO 100, focal length was 20mm.Inspiration
I love old buildings and barns, and I would love to photograph as many as possible before many of them disappear. I would like to maybe one day have a book printed with some of our small town architecture.Editing
As I stated earlier, I did use Photomatix to enhance this shot. I don't like HDR when it is overdone, but I really love it as natural as possible. I like it when you look at an HDR shot and are not really sure if it is or not.In my camera bag
I try and keep my large rolling LowPro loaded, so I can just grab and go. I shoot with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II, and carry a 16-20 Canon L lens, Canon 28-135, and a Canon 100-400mm lens.Feedback
Traveling the back roads are my favorite for finding wonderful old and abandoned buildings. They usually make great HDR images.
