Behind The Lens

Location

In my garden.

Time

It was taken around 10am

Lighting

I used one 1,000w Video light with lot's of diffusers and reflectors, plus sunshine to help me out.

Equipment

Nikon D7000 with Tokina 55mm F2.8 Macro Lens, mounted on Slik Pro Tripod. Also some pine wood from my house and lots of tracing paper to soften the light.

Inspiration

It was part of a set of 100 shots I did for a client of mine, who needed to promote her jewellery designs.

Editing

No, this shot is just as it was shot, with only some slight cropping. No retouching.

In my camera bag

Nikon D7100 with 18-105, Nikkor 80-200 f2.8, Tokina 12-24 and other bits and bobs.

Feedback

This is all about the lighting and how soft you make it. It's also important to choose a focus point and small aperture, so to blur out or bokeh the background but keeping enough sharpness to show the rest of the items in the shot, to maintain the right balance.
