I look after Appomattox in the morning, once his parents have left for work. After breakfast he spends half an hour writing in his Reading Journal. He's very proud of it, as only four children in his year were given one. This morning he was writing about one of the characters in a novel called 'The Assassins of Rome,' a Famous Five type mystery series - complete with dog, set in ancient Rome. The main character is Flavia Gemina and that's whose exploits Maddox is describing.
