Behind The Lens
Location
USS Arizona Memorial, Oahu, HawaiiTime
This was taken around mid day in late October.Lighting
The mid day sun was behind the concrete roof support and was backlighting the clouds and flag, making them pop from the blue sky.Equipment
Canon 5D MIII, hand held. Lens, Canon EOS 24-105 L Series @ 24mm, ISO 100, f10, 1/200, with circular polarizing filter.Inspiration
Being at the USS Arizona Memorial is quite an emotional experience. This shot seemed to capture that.Editing
No post processing. In my camera bag
I carry a Canon 5DMIII, with a 50D body as backup. On typical days like the one in the photo, I carry a 85mm f1.8 prime, the 24-105mm L series zoom this photo was taken with, and a 70-200mm L series, all with assorted filters. Additionally I carry a 580EX II speedlight and a remote shutter release. All this fits neatly in a backpack. I also carry a lightweight Manfrotto tripod that I can sling over my shoulder or attach to the bottom of the backpack.Feedback
This particular photo was simply taking advantage of good (lucky?) conditions which happened to exist during a visit to the memorial, as I was part of one of the many regularly scheduled tour groups.
