This was taken with a Canon SX50 that I had picked up used on ebay. It was taken hand held. 1/500 sec at F 5.6. The camera was set to aperture priorityInspiration
Doesn't take much to inspire me to take a photo but it was certainly a challenge to catch a butterfly in flight. Almost all my picture are spontaneousEditing
All my pictures are processed through lightroom and for this particular photo I just increased color saturation and sharpness. It's the kind of shot that some may think it was photoshopped. The picture certainly has that wow factor:In my camera bag
That's never an easy question as it depends what I'm doing that day. I normally don't go out to specifically shoot and try not to go photog on my wife with carrying to much gear. Currently I shoot with Sony RX100M3 and Nikon D700. The image quality from a full frame sensor gives me a lot of flexibility when editing and in low light shooting. However, I don't like to lug around my D700 with all my lenses unless there is a special event and I need all lens options available. In the past I have shot with a Fuji X100S and Sony RX1. My favorite camera of all time is the Fuji X100s that I have since sold but thinking of getting the Fuji X100T that is coming out in NovemberFeedback
The was certainly a lot of luck in shooting this type of picture and I think having the Canon SX50 with a 50x optical is what made this shot happen. Now I can't give the camera all the credit as I have been photographing for over 30 years and consider my experience had a little bit to do with this photograph ;-) It's about knowing what tools you need to get the shot you want. Although I didn't set out to get this shot I knew I was going to the beach and basically the P&S Canon was the right choice as it gave me the most flexibility with the 24mm-1200mm and plenty of sunshine. I didn't need to worry about having expensive gear at damaged.
