Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken at the Prineville, OR. Rod Show in 2013. It is now know as the "Cruise to the Center of Oregon".

Time

Shot was taken at 11:12 AM

Lighting

Lighting was terrible and the reflections from everything including the sun did not help out.

Equipment

Camera was a Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 18-200mm @ 29mm. My ISO was 100, my F Stop was f/4.0 at 1/80 sec. shutter speed.

Inspiration

The Ford is painted a brilliant high metallic Orange color and I knew that there would be too much glare from the surface to have it look as magnificent as it did setting there in the grass, so the intent was to do the B/W version from the git-go.

Editing

Originally processed in LR and then into Photoshop to achieve the blurred background through selection (carefully) and Gaussian blur and once that was done, into OnOne Perfect Photo for the B/W conversion with the Ansel Adams preset applied and adjusted to my liking. From there back into LR for final adjustment and crop.

In my camera bag

Now-a-days, I shoot with a Nikon D610. My lens selection is pretty sparse for the full frame, but I am saving for that. I do shoot with the 24-85mm Nikkor and the 80-400 mm Nikkor now as well as with my 105 macro and a 50 mm 1.8. If I have need of a different lens right now, I usually rent it from BorrowLenses.com.

Feedback

It is very difficult to get a true, straight shot of one of these beauties at a car show because of the usual clutter in the background and the time of day usually. Be ready for some serious post processing or take unusual shots of the details, which I try to do.
