Location
This photo was taken a Feather Perfect Falconry in Shropshire. It's a small falconry centre with lots of different birds of prey, including birds they have bred. The photo is of an Australian Boobok owl named Sydney.Time
The photo was taken in the early afternoon.Lighting
It was a bright but overcast day and the light was quite harsh at times.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3100 and Nikon 55-300mm lens to capture this shot.Inspiration
I was looking for something different. The birds are so beautiful and inquisitive I felt this shot captured his curiosity really well.Editing
There was a lot of greenery on the tree stump which really distracted from the bird. Therefore I changed the picture to black and white and lifted the shadows to help bring the bird back to being the main focus of the pictureIn my camera bag
Since taking this picture my bag has got a lot heavier! I still take my D3100 everywhere with me, along with my new camera, Nikon D7100. I have three lenses, 18-55mm, 55-300mm and a 105mm prime macro lens. However, my bag is just not big enough, so the boot of my car is also full with boots and wellies for every occasion, tripod, reflectors and blankets to lie on. (I also take my husband everywhere with me to carry everything!!)Feedback
I take my camera absolutely everywhere with me - animals and flowers are my favourite thing to capture, and you never know where the next shot with come from! Always try converting a picture to black and white. The pure simplicity of black and white often strips back a busy picture to allow the viewer to focus on exactly what you captured. When doing so, make sure you have true blacks and true whites within the picture to bring it to life.
