Portrait of my model cousin Frida. Used my 3 inexpensive flashes to get this look. One main light with softbox fitted with grids, same with rimlight and the last was aimed only at the background to create the illusion that it was the spill of the main light.

The beauty of the model, the angle of her face and the masterful lighting come together to create a strong and beautiful photograph.

Location
This photo was taken at my small livingroom.Time
Photo was taken in the middle of the day, indoors.Lighting
The light was created by using flashes from Yongnuo. The YN 500EX. Small, light, durable, ttl, hss and about the same power as a 430exII from Canon. Used 3 different modifiers. Mainlight is a Lastolite hotrod Stripbox with one flash inside. Rimlight the same, but different light ratio. Can't remember the amount, but adjusted to fit my vision. Both stripboxes with grids. 3rd light on the background, creating an illusion that it is the effect from the main light. If I didn't use a stripbox and background light, and only a stripbox as mainlight it would light up to much of the background for what I wanted to create.Equipment
I used Canon 1Ds Mark III with the Canon 85mm 1.8 at f/5.6. As I did want the sharpest possible photo. Also the lack of power from the strobes limited me from going over f/5.6. I now Use f/8 most of the time, unless I want a shallower depth of field.Inspiration
Frida did Inspire me together with many other artist posting black and white photos sites as viewbug. So we started out with a different setup. And suddenly I tuned into her energy and I got an idea of what I wanted to capture, and how. The light and pose was the main factors to create this.Editing
Yes I did some post prosess, but not much. Adjusted shadows and highlights, Increased mid contrast, converted into b/w and did some minor adjustments to the background adjusting shadows and highlights there aswell. In my camera bag
Now I have switched to Nikon. My reason was that I needed something light and with better Dynamic Range at lower iso as well as better performance at higher iso. I could have opted to wait and see what canon does, but I guess they will have a higher price then what I bought my Nikon Camera for. So Now I carry a Nikon D600, Af-s 18-35mmg, Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art, Af-s 50mm 1.8g, Af-s 85mm 1.8g and a Aps-c 10,5mm Fisheye.Feedback
