Location
This photo was taken under our balcony at the back of our house.Time
It was taken in the early evening. I was in the house and looked up to see this young raccoon on our balcony cleaning up under a bird feeder. I took a few shots which spooked him . He climbed down one of the supports and crawled into the rafters. He poked his head out and refused to leave so I got some close ups.Lighting
The light was getting dim so I set my camera to Aperture Priority and used a tripod to steady it.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Nikon D5100. I used a Tameron 150-600 telephoto lens. The tripod is a Manfrotto Carbon Fibre . No flash was used.Inspiration
I love shooting wildlife and this little raccoon was kind enough to pose for me.Editing
I use Adobe Lightroom 5 to put color and warmth back into photos shot in RAW.In my camera bag
I normally carry a Nikon D5100 and a Nikon D5200. I use my Tameron 150-600 lens fo most of my wildlife shots. If i am shooting landscapes I use my Nikon 55-300 or Nikon 18-55. I also have a Sigma 105mm Macro lens for close ups.Feedback
To capture wildlife I take my camera everywhere I go. I have it on the seat beside me. I am constantly on the lookout for birds, animals and interesting buildings or landscapes. I use my car as a blind, so that I don't scare the creatures away. At home my camera is on the tripod in front of a window that faces a ravine behind our house. I keep an eye out for anything of interest. I take many photos everyday and edit to remove any that are not clear or interesting. Mostly wildlife photography takes watching and patience and no sudden moves.
