Location
This photo was taken at Oak Alley plantation in Louisiana, near New Orleans.Time
It was mid-morning. This was our first stop of the day and we wanted to do this place justice.Lighting
The branches make the shadows.... so only some direct sunlight will create this effect. Otherwise, the colors and shadows are very muted or not there at all.Equipment
I used my old Canon Rebel II film camera to take this photo.Inspiration
Oak Alley is one of the most photographed places in the entire state... if you're standing in the middle of both rows of trees. But, I wanted a different view so went off to the side and was blessed with this amazing sight. It is beautiful in color, too, but just so striking in B&W. I took one on the other side as well and the view is completely different. It is just a reminder to not just look at what everyone else is looking at when you're at a popular place.Editing
This is a scan of a negative, so couldn't do too much post-processing. Other than turning it into a B&W photo, not too much.In my camera bag
I now have a Nikon D5600 and P950 in my bag. I have the two basic kit lenses, and a few filters.Feedback
You need the sunlight to capture neat shadow patterns. If you're in a picturesque place that is often photographed, look for a different angle, location, or point of view. You just might be surprised.
