In the area around Page Arizona, most of the real gems are hidden. Such is the case with Stud Horse Point. Stud Horse Point is one of the little known places overlooking Lake Powell and it has an amazing cluster of alien shapes of prehistoric pedestal rocks called Hoodoos. The structures here have large cap rocks standing tall inside a depression, close to the rim overlooking the valley. The rocks, seemingly defy the laws of gravity by balancing their enormous tops at acute angles which gives Stud Horse Point an other-worldly feel. This was the first time I had ever seen Hoodoos and I was blow away at their magnificence. This particular Hoodoo reminded me of a sentry standing guard over the valley below.
