Location
This photo was taken in Coronation Park, Toronto, not far away from a place where I live.Time
I was invited by my fiancée to have a lunch together. He suggested to photograph birds at Coronation Park while I was waiting for him. Usually there are many Canadian birds but it was chilly day and I saw only hungry squirrels. It was close to noon, lunch time so I almost left the park and turned back feeling disappointed that I could not find birds. And at this moment I saw these amazing shadows painted by trees on snow. And I released the button. Photo was taken on February 27, 2015.Lighting
As I mentioned the photo was taken almost at noon. The light was harsh but shadows created beautiful pattern on snow and I couldn't resist to capture the moment.Equipment
This was shot on Canon 70D, with an 11-16mm Tokina lens. No other equipment was involved.Inspiration
The atmosphere of the park is a very inspirational. Although Coronation park is located close to Toronto downtown area, it's a very peaceful place with historical background. A royal oak tree surrounded by a ring of oak trees was planted to create a central focus in the park. A grove of maple trees was planted in memory of the many Canadian troops who fought overseas.Editing
The image itself has two colors naturally because of winter season. As I love black & white photography I just transferred RAW image in black & white using Photoshop. In my camera bag
The first thing I always pack is Canon 70D. I love working with an 11-18mm Tokina lens for landscaping and recently started challenging myself with a 50mm Canon prime lens for street photography.Feedback
The best advice I can give - listen to your inner voice, chose places and time where and when you feel comfortable to shoot. Always be curious and challenge yourself with new angles, use prime lens once a while. It helps to keep your creative mind active and look at the same locations from a different angle.
