Location
This photo was taken in my backyard. I was practicing with a macro lens and trying to get reflections pictures. I usually shoot with a Canon but I don't have a macro lens so I borrowed a lens & camera from a friend - she had an older Nikon with a macro lens.Time
This was taken mid-morning as I was practicing and playing around.Lighting
This was taken in natural light, with the flower pot under a solid patio cover but on the edge and catching the light.Equipment
Nikon D70s. 60mm macro lens. Tripod.Inspiration
I'm always looking for new things to shoot & new techniques to try. I wanted to see if I could get reflections in water drops and this is what I came up with. The greens & blues in the reflection & the shape of the water drop reminded me of a picture of the world from outer space. I liked the thought that something as minuscule as a drop of water could contain the whole world in it, kind of like planet Earth in the galaxy.Editing
I did some minor cropping and color adjustments using Aperture for Mac.In my camera bag
Canon 7D. Canon 17-55mm 2.8 lens. Canon 70-200mm 2.8 L series lens. 1x4 extender. Polarizing filter, lens cloths, extra battery & CF cards.Feedback
Bring a sturdy tripod and a lot of patience. I used an eye dropper to drop water where I wanted it on the stem of a poppy. I tried different angles until I was satisfied with the reflection.
