Behind The Lens

Location
The photo was taken in Carrasqueira Pier, Alentejo, Portugal. It's a wonderful spot, with piers, boats, fog, fisherman, etc... A must. If you go there, choose Spring or Autumn, the light is wonderful.
Time
This photo was taken some minutes after the sunrise, in a foggy morning.
Lighting
Light is always light but in this photo, I just want a few of it, to don't "blow" the photo in the right side. A two stops hard edge filter helped to the balance of the "force".
Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 50D with a Sigma 10-20 f4 lens. Lee Filters (0,6 HE and 0,6 ND) and a Manfrotto tripod helped a lot.
Inspiration
I wait for a couple of mornings to capture a photo of this pear with fog, to make a quiet and misty composition. And the say appeared and the photo was make. I wanted to put the viewer in the scene, with a sense of loneliness and silence. Some seconds of reflection and soul. I choose B&W because it simplifies the composition.
Editing
Yes, Basic levels and dodge and burn. Nothing stressful or complicated. More than 10 minutes of processing? Think if the photo is really good enough...
In my camera bag
Now I own a Canon 70d and a couple of basic lens: Canon EF-S 10-18mm STM and 18-135mm STM. They do the job very well. In my kit, my Lee Filters are mandatory with several SD cards. I changed recentely to a Manfrotto BeFree, to loose weight in my trips without compromising image stability.
Feedback
I'm not a pro photographer and you can find thousands of good advices anywhere on the web. My personal advices are always two: - Only shot what you wish and like. Don't loose your precious time on earth shooting what others like or asked. - Less attention in gear and more focus on the eye and composition. Our eyes are always better than any camera to "make" a photo.
