Location
This was taken in the living room of my old apartment. I used a dark gray paper background and put a flash unit behind a Japanese paper parasolTime
With studio lighting time is irrelevant.Lighting
The flash head was just an inexpensive monolight.Equipment
This was taken on film. The camera was a Rolleiflex 2.8f with Ilford FP4. I still use the Rolleiflex.Inspiration
The model had a great profile and the way she put her hair up just added to the effect. Having her topless just gave her torso a smooth line.Editing
Very little.In my camera bag
I still like to shoot on film. The old Rolleiflex and film is all I really needFeedback
Keep it simple. I still like to shoot on film. The Rolleiflex makes you think because you're limited to 12 exposures on a roll. I also try to get it right in the camera and do very little post processing after I scan the negatives.
