The moment I witnessed a stolen car exploding. I called the fire service when I saw a group of teenagers run from the vehicle, leaving behind a lick of flame in the passenger seat. I then grabbed my camera to capture the events unfolding. This is the moment the car's engine exploded, sending shards of glass and debris in all directions.

A cracking shot and well done on the feature. Reminds me of my youth in Newcastle. Many a car would be burnt out with a depressive regularity.

Fearsome... well done on the capture and good you had the presence of mind to call the fire service first.

Location
I took this photo during a very weird situation. I had gone to my balcony to investigate a loud noise coming from the car park near my apartment. I saw some kids had crashed a stolen car into a parking meter. As they ran out, there was lick of flame in the back seat so I called the fire service then grabbed my camera. The photo was taken from my balcony. The photo shows the moment when the car exploded, sending glass everywhere.Time
During the evening, I think around 9pm.Lighting
It was dark when I took the photo so i needed to set the ISO high in order to capture a freeze frame of what was happening.Equipment
Nikon D7000 with a Nikkor 55-300 f4.5-5.6 lensInspiration
While I waited for the fire service I could see the flames were getting bigger, so i thought it was important to capture the situation.Editing
No post processing was done on the photo. In my camera bag
These days i tend to just carry a nikon D750 with a 24-70mm f2.8 lens. Sometimes some lighting too.Feedback
I think it's important to have your camera on hand as much as possible just in case of life's spontaneous events.
