Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo during our holiday in Scotland. Most of the holiday comprised of driving through the Scottish highlands all day long.

Time

This photo was taken in the late afternoon around 4 p.m. It was during the month of May, hence the bright sky.

Lighting

I don’t think I had to put any special efforts into taking this picture. The time of the day happened to be perfect and I happened to be there at the right time. Scottish highlands have the most spectacular landscapes.

Equipment

This was taken while I was using my first Nikon camera, D 3000 and a 18-200 mm lens.

Inspiration

We were travelling with a group of friends who were visiting us from India. So that meant if one car stopped the other guys had to stop too. I saw this beautiful view while it was my turn to my drive, so I had some temporary control over where we stop. I am pretty sure if my husband or one of my friends had been driving, they may not have necessarily entertained me. In their defense, I do lose track of time when I start taking photos. And I had already made them do several extra stops to take photos since morning, but Scotland is just that beautiful. We had to turn the car around, drive for a few extra miles until we could find a safe parking spot because we were driving through the mountain pass. To be fair, nobody really complained after they saw the view.

Editing

No. I generally do very little post-processing. But this one is just as it was clicked.

In my camera bag

Nikon D 7100, 18-200 mm Hg, a prime lens 85 mm f 1.8 and a tripod as a minimum . My husband jokes that I might forget him behind someday, but I never forget the tripod. Well, you just never know when you might need the tripod and I cannot really call the tripod on its mobile to come and find me, can I?

Feedback

If you think you might get a great photo that will make you happy, just do it. When you stop at unusual locations or when you do street photography, some people, including your family and friends may think you are crazy (maybe rightly so), but the photos in the end make it all worth the effort. “Life is short. If there was ever a moment to follow your passion and do something that matters to you, that moment is now.” Anonymous
