Location
I took this photo at an empty field near my home in Southern California. I scouted the day before, knowing the storm clouds would be slightly clearing by the next morning.Time
I got up around 6am and headed out to see the sunrise. Sun was just starting to come up and I was able to get into perfect place to get the sun peaking through the tree.Lighting
The sun took care of all my lighting needs.Equipment
I used a Sony A7 with a Zeiss 24-70mm on a Mefoto tripod.Inspiration
I have been learning more and more about photography and for the first time I was able to scout out my location and plan my shoot. I have been trying to add foreground objects into my shots and found this tree to use with my sunrise. Luckily for me everything came together like I planned.Editing
I do most of my processing in Lightroom and for this photo I used Perfect Effects by OnOne and Photoshop to remove some unwanted power lines and other small distractions. In my camera bag
I always have my Sony A7 and kit lens, the Zeiss FE 24-70mm. I have a metabones Nikon to E mount adapter and a Nikon 70-300mm. I like to also shoot macro, so I have a Tamron 90mm 2.8 macro lens.Feedback
Planning is important for sunrise shots.....you don't want to have to figure things out in the dark. Clouds can truly make any shot better, so check the weather and try to plan a morning after a storm. The most important tips for sunbursts are using F22 and try to have the sun peak slightly around your foreground object (any object will work....get creative).
