The depth of field is amazing in this photo! It also captures the textures brilliantly.

I have looked at many train track photos, nice depth of field, good saturation off color on the subject, good abstract feel from the RR s e and cross ties. One of the better RR track shots I've seen. Nice Work !

Location
I took this photo in North Carolina. There was a track that ran along the river. I crossed the river on a suspended walk bridge to get to the tracks.Time
It was taken in the late afternoon.Lighting
It was late afternoon by the time we got to this spot. The sun was spotty in places as it was behind the mountains. So I would say, nothing extremely special about the lighting.Equipment
I used my Olympus SZ-12, 14 megapixel camera on this shot. I prefer the sunset setting on this camera because it brings the colors to life. I played with the camera a while until it finally focused where I wanted it to focus.Inspiration
The location of the tracks and how they wound around the mountain is what inspired my photos of it. This is only one of a few dozen taken that day.Editing
The most I ever do to any of my photos is clarify in my Paint Shop Pro Photo program. This actually brings everything to life as I saw it taking the pictures. Then of course my watermark is added. In my camera bag
I usually have my Olympus SZ-12, my cell phone camera and a tripod (just in case).Feedback
Just go with what makes you feel good. If you see it and want a shot of it, no matter what it is, take the shot. Take a lot of shots at many different angles. It's okay to walk away with 50 shots of one thing. For me, anything goes when it comes to taking a picture. Play with your camera until it feels like an extension of your hand. Most of all, enjoy taking the photos :)
