Location
This photo was taken in the Dominican Republic. I have had little formal training but do enjoy photography and the memories these photos create when reviewing them.Time
I took this photo early in the morning. When on holidays I routinely get up at 5am to take pictures of the sunrise. I walked quite a distance down the beach to take this photo of the landscape at a distance.Lighting
I wanted to capture the beautiful colour contrast in the morning and shot several photos at multiple settings to get this one.Equipment
I took this photo with a Nikon D5200 and a 70-300 zoom lens. There was no other equipment involved.Inspiration
I was looking for a place to capture the essence and beauty of the Dominican Republic sunrise. I saw the landscape while walking during the day and wondered how beautiful it would look in the morning with the sunrise as a backdrop.Editing
I did not do any post processing as I took multiple photos with different settings to capture the image I was looking for.In my camera bag
When I pack my camera bag I always have my Nikon D5200, a 70-300 zoom, a 24-105 and a 18-55mm lens in case I see something that requires a different lens. I also carry some filters and lens cleaning equipment.Feedback
In Punta Cana of the Dominican Republic the sunrise is spectacular but different every day. I would recommend getting up early and taking many photos at different settings to get the one photo that you would feel worthy of featuring. I am an early riser so this is easy for me. I would also recommend using a tripod as the only reason I did not is the distance I had to walk to the site previously discovered to capture this image. I would also recommend scouting the property in advance to determine the best location.
