Location
This photo was taken in Old San Juan Puerto Rico, right by the entrance to Pigeon Park (or Park of the Pigeons)Time
Had to be around mid afternoon sometime, we were walking the streets of Old San Juan for a little bit already.Lighting
All natural lighting, as can be expected with a quick street shot.Equipment
It was taken with a Canon G11, it was a fairly new camera to me (back in 2011). Since it was my first compact with RAW option, and due to fiddling with the settings, I had not paid attention and had it taken as a small file.Inspiration
I saw the gentleman taking a break while we were walking up towards the park, there was a lot of people walking around since the area is a big attraction. I wanted to take the shot then but didn't cause of the crowd. After leaving the park and walking back down the street, he was playing the accordion with a crowd observing him and then I was able to capture the moment. I would of loved to have snapped a shot of him stadning during this break, his body appeared to actually of been shaped playing the accordion with his high shoulders. On following visits to the island, I have not seen him again.Editing
since it was taken as a small jpeg, no post done.In my camera bag
Equipment varies on destination. The G11 has been retired and replaced with an Olympus EP-5 when traveling, usually around Florida. I always try to carry a 35mm, my favorite is the Cannot QL17 although I have a few others. But my favorite digital camera is my Canon 50D, rather outdated now but works great and helps me make some money from time to time. Hopefully to be replaced with a 6D sometime.Feedback
Patience and know your camera (so you shoot and get the best file type as well as the subject). Be familiar as well with your surroundings, so you know the best"when" to achieve your shot. And of course smile as to make your subject comfortable.
