Yes, love the POV. It's a great capture! Question - my instinct would have photoshop'd the white flek by her knee, as it draws my eye - was there a reason not to? Not critical - just wondering. Thx

Behind The Lens

Location

In Romania, Bucharest, Carol Park. In a fountain - monument.

Time

I remember it was a little bit after sunset, around 7 PM. We were with 2 friends and one of them was holding the reflector trying to position some last rays of sun, chasing them around. Made use of the last remaining natural light.

Lighting

I wanted to let the viewer see everything yet highlight her beautiful eyes somehow, so i've adjusted the distance and diafragm until i had it right. I was lucky to have a d5100 and make use of it's flexible viewfinder. Was sitting on my toes with the camera up high, in order to get it right!

Equipment

I've had a Nikon d5100 and a 35mm f/1.8 lens, and delicious natural light. No other equipment was necessary.

Inspiration

Her music. She was singing her guitar the entire time. She is studying the conservatory and she knew alot of entrancing melodies. It was a good time which let both of us relax and have fun, me while photographing and her - while posing. I could say she inspired me to portray her as a siren, a muse, sitting on the block of stone which used to be a fountain and luring everying with her relaxing and mesmerising melodies.

Editing

The post-processing was mainly done in lightroom, i've adjusted the lighting, enlighen some areas while darken some other areas, plus a little sharpen and dodge/burn action in photoshop to make her appear more strongly portrayed

In my camera bag

When i go outdoor shooting, i usually have a reflector, one light, two wireless triggers, two or three lenses and my camera body. I usually carry light; if necessary i take a tripod, umbrellas, light stands, etc

Feedback

My main advice for other young photographers is to connect with your model before starting to shoot. Chat a little, talk about passions and hobbies and other good stuff. If you manage to form a relation and bond a little, the shooting will go great, and she/he will be more relaxed. Other than that, shoot from all the possible angles, go wild, check the display, try again, until you get something you like. Perseverence is the key. And last but not least, dare to break the rules, even if you'll be criticised for that. If you want to get out of the crowd, you have to be different, do things your own way. Do things the way you feel, not the way you should. :)
